The church of Thyatira was located in a city known for it's corruption and immorality and for the most part this church remained faithful to the Lord in the middle of this dark place. This church also, however, tolerated the teachings of a woman who was leading God's people astray. Compared to the Old Testament figure, Jezebel, this woman needed to be dealt with and the church needed to become solidified in their convictions. Today, we can get swayed by a lot of things that would distract our heart away from Jesus. We have to stay alert and take the necessary steps to guard against a divided life.
